Our kids are all adopted from foster care. This means that they all came to use with original or birth names. When we adopted them it was important to us to have a part in their naming beyond giving them our last name. The names we chose were inspired by the Bible and, unintentionally, can all be found in the Beatitudes, one of our favorite passages from the New Testament. Our oldest represents Love (Grace is a synonym for love and the Grace of God has touched her life since the moment she was conceived), our middle child represents Hope (his name comes from Jeremiah 29:11; we prayed that verse over him and our family almost from the time he came to us and continue to do so), and our youngest has Faith as part of her name (because her life with us has required a tremendous amount of faith: that she would stay with our family, that she would gain our last name, that she will overcome all the obstacles placed in her path from before she was even born).(NOTE: I hesitate to share much specific information about their origins as those are their stories to tell, not mine.) All of them are beautiful, all of them are perfectly and wonderfully made, and all of them were specially chosen by God to be our children. All together they have brought us tremendous JOY.
